The Scranton bus service to the Jefferson swimming pool began running last week and will continue through Aug. 16.
The bus picks up youngsters at 12:45 pm each Tuesday and Thursday. They return to Scranton about 4:30 pm. Riders should be at the bus stop at the Scranton Community Center no later than 12:30 to assure transportation.
There is no charge to ride the bus but youngsters are responsible for the cost of pool admission and for any refreshments they purchase. Children participating in the Scranton library summer reading program can earn free swimming passes. Check with the library for details.
Youngsters must have a registration slip signed by their parent or guardian before boarding the bus. Those slips are available at the Scranton office of Peoples Bank.
The swim bus is an annual project funded by Scranton Betterment. The Betterment group is teaming with the Friends of the Scranton Library to provide free swim passes. ~The Scranton Journal
